| CALL FOR HELP |
[Nov. 11th, 2009|12:29 am] |
Hi everyone--
I have a friend who is suffering from severe anorexia. (I met this girl fairly recently through friends and we have kind of "taken her under our wings", so to speak).
I have been asked to find (and am therefore now asking for) any and all resources that any of you know of regarding Body Image and Manic behavior--Forums that helped? Websites? People? Books? Articles? Movies?
What I am NOT looking for: -Pro-Ana anything. Seriously. Just no. -Message boards that are less supportive than destructive (example: one I recently came across had threads like "Things You Hate About Yourself Today")
Bonus if these resources have helped you or anyone you know personally.
I know this is a long-shot and kind of out of the blue--I don't know very much about anorexia itself, in all honesty, and so if this comes off as ignorant I am severely sorry. I just want to see if there's anything I can do to help my friend.
I am not taking her on as my cause or anything like that--just some ideas to send her way. She has asked for the help.
This has been written really hastily at her request.
PM me if you feel that this is too personal.
Thank you so much for your time.
Edit: I'm almost positive she's already seeing a therapist--this is the "supplemental material" section :) |

[Nov. 10th, 2009|11:12 am] |
So I really hate doing these, but I really needed to. If you were cut, it was either because I didn't feel like we were really connected/had much in common or I didn't think you were using your journal anymore. I also removed all deleted journals (with one notable exception), so if you deleted and plan on triumphantly returning please let me know. ♥

So today marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
It's actually the first major world news event that I remember. I remember seeing it on TV and I knew it was VERY important and I think I sort of understood? I remember watching those people on top of the wall and the ones trying to pull it down and thinking just how strange it must be to live with a great big wall in your city.
Of course I reckon that's not bad awareness for a 6 year old :P
It does have to be said however that when people talk about the fall of the Berlin Wall close on the heels of the actual memory comes my memory of the Alvin and the Chipmunk's episode (72A "The Wall") in which they play a concert next to the wall (they actually play in East Berlin I think) and meet a little brother and sister who live on either side of the wall and they play so loud the whole thing collapses (and then it all turns out to be a dream) It never occured to me, till I just looked it up now, but that was aired for the first time nearly a year before the Wall actually came down. I have no idea whether I saw it before or after the actual Fall.

Napoleon is in consideration, but I just can NOT get over the stigma of SHORT MAN SHORT MAN screaming in my brain.
Please help prove to me that it's just me and my stupid biases DDD:

so, i'm currently trying to c&p all my fics onto my fic journal.
>.< i've been doing it all day, i still have 94 left.
>.< few of them have wordcount or warnings. depending on what comm they were posted to, they don't have pairings. if they were posted in my journal they often don't have ratings or title. *hates writing headers*
>.< *also hates tagging everything*
>.< why does everything i wrote in 2005 switch between tenses?
>.< why is everything from 2004 not FUCKING SPELLCHECKED?
>.< why did insanejournal go down for like 2 hours? i was on a friggin roll, come on!
>.< seriously, why didn't i start doing this a few years ago? failstamp for procrastinating gala. |

*sniffs*
Well I definitely have a whole new cold sapping my energy *sighs* on the otherhand it's been a rather lovely couple of days so I do know I ought not to complain :P
Lovely day started yesterday morning with an unexpected parcel containing a rather beautiful postcard and VERY beautiful fingerless gloves (thank you nicolap! they're gorgeous and I pretty much put them on yesterday morning and didn't take them off again except in the theatre *g*)
I then battled TfL and St Pancras (where they actually had police managing the numbers going dow onto the underground it was so crowded on the Piccadilly line!) and made my way to the Palace Theatre and met up with fides and co. to go and see Priscilla Queen of the Desert which was good.
...
Alright which was TOTALLY fantastic and totally impossible not to come out smiling and shiny and happy (and possibly if you were sitting in the stalls literally shiny given the confetti and such dropped on them *g*).
( Priscilla @ the Palace Theatre )
When can I go again?!
Then I came home and spent the evening being weak and feeble (and I do mean that, my parents went off to the fireworks and I watched some of Strictly and then I watched The Making of War Horse which was completely fascinating especially as they' showed footage of them starting the workshops for it and Sam Barneet was involved at that stage ♥)
Then this morning was Church Parade and I had all but one of my Rainbows and all of them remembered their Poppies and they behaved mostly beautifully and almost managed to parade with their pennant properly (one day we'll get that right at both ends of the service *g*) And stuck around for the Act of Remeberance at the start of the next service.
And then there was Mutton Stew for lunch <3 and the all important Sunday afternoon nap and I've just spent an hour failing to cut out swan templates (for Rainbows this week) and boggling at the stupid recipe for Moon Cakes that we're supposed to be able to make at Rainbows next week (because who has a fridge and a cooker AND enough time to refrigerate dough for 30 minutes, cook the cakes for 20 minutes AND leave them to cool enough all in one meeting! Cunning planning is called for I feel)
And now I am having tea and contemplating my yuletide sign up :D After which I ough to try finishing my hd_holidays fic as it's due in 2 weeks :D:D:D |
